A hard fought draw with Banbury last night.  Andy's loss on board 1 was balanced by Peter's 4th win of the season.

Miroslawa: The game was pretty even throughout.

Peter: My opponent thought he has set up a mate threat with the alternate threat of forking my king and queen. But he did not see that my knight move guarding the mate also unmasked a rook move enabling me to take his knight when he went for the fork. After that it was nice to be able to sacrifice a pawn on f6 opening up his kingside. He resigned when my bishop attacked both his remaining rooks.

Gordon: After an even start I had good pressure in the middle of the board and my opponent admitted he might be murdered (his words, not mine!). We swapped material to reach an even end game and despite some pressure on my back rank it was easy to accept a draw at my opponent's request.

Stephen: after a poor opening, I was force to sacrifice two pawns to get any play.  A tactical trick allowed me to recover them, but then my oppenent was marching a passed pawn down the centre of the board.  Fortunately I also had a passed pawn and we both promoted to queens.  We then agreed a draw, with both sides having a queen and a rook.
