Unfortunately the score line doesn’t really do the team justice. Several of the matches were closely fought, and it was a shame we didn’t have more to show for the chess played.

Somehow, watching all 6 games, I managed to miss most of the key points on all the boards.

The only point for our team was from Wojciech. In the thick of the action he was a rook down, but with a very strong attack on the kingside (I missed whether this was sacrificed for position or blundered). His opponent defended well, and at one point looked to have Wojciech in trouble, but a 50 minute time disparity gave Wojciech few worries, and a time win.

Zach, the junior member for this match, played a good kings pawn opening, and was a pawn up early on, and looked to be doing a solid job, until he blundered a rook.

Derek’s game was also fairly even until he let his queen and rook get forked by a bishop.

Paul, down an exchange, had strong attacking potential, but missed a checkmate opportunity.

John’s match was also close, and again had a strong kingside attack. A couple of exchanges nullified this, and all his remaining pieces were blocked in on the wrong side of the board.

Finally Slava's game was the last to finish. It again looked fairly close, then when I came back 5 minutes later he was a rook down.
